Our department of Landscape architecture in Estonian University of Life Sciences was one of 10 partners from 3 different countries - Estonia, Latvia and Russia in project Green Management for Urban Development & Planning in EE-LV-RU Border Capitals/GreenMan. One of the project outcomes was the Manual "Urban Green Space Management" for local municipalities.

The manual is mainly intended to help the staff of local municipalities to focus their available resources in most efficient way onto the most important maintenance activities and to nurture and care for the often sensitive plants under their care which, if correctly treated can be lost or their value diminished. The manual presents an overview of all the relevant topics of urban green space management and provides the most up to date information about what to focus on in preparing management plans, what maintenance works to order and how to make sure the tasks are properly fulfilled while securing a high quality and result. helps to focus on in preparing management plans, fulfilling the tasks and their qualities.

Biggest part of this Manual is connected with woody plants, mainly trees. Very important are the hardiness zones, which are different given in internet. Everything about trees starting from choosing plant materials and ending with supporting the trees are mainly recommended in numbers, illustrated with lots of  figures. There are also various tree species in different ages and environment. In the end You can find a lot of appendixes. Manual can be found  http://greenmanproject.org/archives/2192
